Paper instructions

  • Paper should be two to four pages in 2-column format (including illustrations and references).
  • Paper should be formatted according to the specifications and style templates below:
  • Submitted papers should be in PDF format. If you use color illustrations, make sure they are visible when printed with a B/W printer.
  • Name of the author(s), postal address(es), and email address(es) should be included in the paper.
  • Paper should also have an abstract included, just around 100 words.
  • The figures and tables should be placed as the upmost items in each page. Always that is not possible, but that is desirable. In particular, try to avoid the style where your figures are scattered here and there and the text becomes fragmented.

Submission of the Camera-ready Paper

See the final submission instructions page.

Oral Presentation Instructions

  • Each oral presentation has been allocated a 20 minutes time slot, including initial preparations and questions.
  • Unless your session chairperson indicated otherwise, plan to have your talk finished in 15 minutes. This allows for a few questions and some time for introducing the next speaker.
  • The organizers will provide a laptop computer connected to a projector (if you bring your own laptop, make sure it can be plugged into a standard VGA connector and supports resolution 1024 x 768). The operating system is Microsoft Windows XP with Adobe PDF and Powerpoint slides supported. Experience has shown that PDF is usually the safe alternative. However, it might be wise to prepare both formats.
  • If you need any special software, contact the organizers
  • A laser pointer will be provided by the organizers.
  • An overhead projector and VHS and DVD players will also be available.
  • You can also send your slides beforehand to jyrki.selinummi@tut.fi. This way your slides will be ready and tested on the laptop as you arrive. (If your files are large, please contact the above adress to check that the mailbox accepts that large files.)

Poster Presentation Instructions

  • The poster boards will be 115 cm (45 in) wide and 120 cm (47 in) high
  • Arrive at the poster area 15-20 minutes before the beginning of the session and meet up with the session chair who will be near the sign announcing this session.
  • Push-pins will be available at each poster board.
  • Put up your poster during the break before your scheduled session time and remove it during the break following your scheduled session time.

Note to authors: the submission system does not have an official certificate signed by a certificate authority (such as VeriSign or Thawte). The new Internet Explorer 7 complains about this in a very prominent way: "We recommend that you close this webpage and do not continue to this website." We have contacted the submission system provider to sort this out, but in the meantime we can only assure you that the system is completely safe and has been used in a number of IEEE conferences worldwide.
