Become an expert in human-centred technology
Technology is around us everywhere and every day. Successful technology supports humans in what they are doing, fits its purpose well, and might make you smile. This is why we need to understand humans and their life if we are to design successful technologies. Designing and implementing the interaction between humans and technology is an interesting area that covers tasks from understanding human psychology to programming software systems. Come and study with us to become an expert in human-centred technology and start in an interesting and respected profession. You are really needed in the development of exciting and better technologies for the future!
We offer a programme in which you will learn the skills needed in developing technologies from a human point of view. The bachelor.s programme covers basic skills and knowledge in human.technology interaction and is mostly in Finnish. The international master.s programme will deepen your knowledge and challenge you to think analytically. There are three areas of emphasis in which you can choose to specialise:
- Interaction Design and Research
- Development of Interactive Software
- User Experience Design and Evaluation
What kind of jobs you can get after graduation?
Typical jobs include interaction designer, usability specialist, and user experience architect. Interaction designers study people and their life and create technology designs; usability specialists make sure that the technology designs are easy to use and fit human purposes; and user experience architects work to enhance the entire experience we have with the technology, its packaging, and related services.
What do we expect from our potential students?
It is not necessary to be a computer wizard, although we can turn you into one if you so desire. A broad interest in, and enthusiasm for, technology and humans is desired; the rest we can teach. Any background or experience in computer science, psychology, or sociology is definitely a bonus.
