Research and Education Alliance in Humane Technology REAL-IN-HT (Finnish acronym is INTO) alliance project is one of the top 12 projects to be funded by the University Alliance Finland. The general aim of the project is to create a multidisciplinary and internationally recognized consortium for research and education including graduate and especially postgraduate level in the area of human-technology interaction.
The core of the alliance consists of three research units that have established their position in the field: the Tampere Unit for Computer-Human Interaction (TAUCHI) at the Department of Computer Sciences in University of Tampere, the Human-Centered Technology Unit (Finnish acronym IHTE) at the Department of Software Systems in Tampere University of Technology, and the User-friendly Information Technology Program at the Department of Computer and Information Systems in the University of Jyväskylä. All these units share a notion that research and development in the area of information communication technologies should be developed in multidisciplinary way considering not only technological factors but also from the perspective of human behavior and psychology. Thus, ICT should be developed with the support at least from disciplines like engineering and computer sciences, and psychology as well. For this reason the term humane technology in our alliance project.
