Professor Veikko Surakka (chairman), UTA. Veikko Surakka is a professor in interactive technology working in Tampere Unit for Computer-Human Interaction at the Department of Computer Sciences, University of Tampere. He holds a PhD in psychology from the University of Tampere. He is the head of the Research Group for Emotions, Sociality and Computing, ESC (for more information, see http://www.cs.uta.fi/hci/ESC/). He is also heading the REAL-IN-HT alliance project. He has studied human emotions and emotion associated behavior for more than 20 years both in human-human and human-technology interaction contexts.

Professor Kaisa Väänänen-Vainio-Mattila, TUT. Väänänen-Vainio-Mattila is a full professor of usability in Tampere University of Technology, department of Software Systems, where she's leading the unit of Human-Centered Technology. Kaisa has over 15 years experience in human-centered design, both in university and industry, including 10 years with Nokia Inc. Kaisa's research interests cover user experience and user-centered design methods in product development, with emphasis on design and evaluation of mobile communication products and services. Currently Kaisa is also a part-time visiting professor at Nokia Research Center, focusing on user experience of mobile and mixed reality services.

Professor Kari-Jouko Räihä, UTA. Kari-Jouko Räihä obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Helsinki in 1982. Since 1985 he has been a full professor of Computer Science at the University of Tampere. He founded TAUCHI in mid-1990's and has led it since. Kari has been the supervisor, examiner or reviewer of 31 Ph.D. theses. He has chaired several conferences in the field and led more than 40 research projects funded through competitive funding sources. His research interests span HCI broadly, with special interest in new interaction techniques, especially those based on the use of eye gaze.

Professor Roope Raisamo, UTA. Roope Raisamo is a full professor of computer science (user interface software development) in the University of Tampere, Department of Computer Sciences, where he is the vice head of Tampere Unit for Computer-Human Interaction. Roope has 14 years of experience in constructive research on human-technology interaction. He has also experience in private entrepreunership and has had long-term visits in corporate research laboratories (DEC SRC, CRL) and universities (Stanford University, University Paul Verlaine - Metz). His main interests are multimodal human-technology interaction, haptic interaction, and software architectures for novel user interfaces. He is a Member of the Editorial Boards in Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Smart Environments, and Advances in Human-Computer Interaction.

Professor Sari Kujala, TUT. Sari Kujala is a professor of psychology at Tampere University of Technology, the unit of Human-Centered Technology. Sari has received Lic. Phil. in Cognitive Science and Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction. Sari's research interests cover user involvement, user-centered design, value-centered design, user experience and online communities.

Professor Pertti Saariluoma, JYU. Pertti Saariluoma is professor of cognitive science in Jyväskylä University. He received his Ph.D. in University of Turku 1984. He has also studied in Oxford, Cambridge and Carnegie-Mellon universities. The main research interests are user psychology and design processes. He is also editor of Human Technology.

Research Professor Markku Turunen, UTA. Markku Turunen is a research professor and leader of the SPI research group. He joined TAUCHI in 1998, and has worked since in various research and teaching positions. He holds a PhD from UTA, and he is an adjunct professor of interactive technology. He has been participating in 18 externally funded research projects. His research interests are in multimodal mobile and pervasive applications and their architectures. He has published around 70 research articles and writings in the popular press on these subjects.

Personnel

Dr. Päivi Majaranta received her Ph.D. in Interactive Technology in 2009 from University of Tampere. Prior to INTO (2004-2009) she worked as the scientific coordinator of the EC funded Network of Excellence on Communication by Gaze Interaction (COGAIN, www.cogain.org). Her research interests include HCI, usability, and accessibility, especially gaze-aware and gaze-operated interfaces.

Sacha Helfenstein attained his Ph.D., Cognitive Science, in 2005 from the University of Jyväskylä. His background lies in psychology, specializing in organizational and educational applied contexts (M.Sc. at University of Zurich, Switzerland), and has since 2002 worked as researcher and lecturer in the areas of user and design science. Current research concerns the design and exploitation of novel ICT- and Web 2.0-opportunities for information and collaborative work activities, user sense-making, adoption processes, and use culture creation.

Lic. Phil. (Computer Science), student of architecture Teija Vainio is a researcher in the field of human-computer interaction at Tampere University of Technology (Human-Centered Technology). She has been involved in a number of research projects in mobile human computer interaction with special research interests relating to navigation and mobile work. Her PhD thesis (in progress) addresses both designing of navigation aids for mobile users and how urban planning praxis can be applied for such design.

Arto Hippula is the manager of industrial contacts, project coordinator in TAUCHI. He has studied civil engineering in power electrics, economics and social sciences at University of Tampere, and studies of industrial design at Lahti Polytechnic Institute. Arto has over 15 years experience in project foundation and coordination like in the Nordic Development Centre for Rehabilitation Technologyand in The Technical Research Center of Finland.

Dr. Poika isokoski is a director of education at the Tampere Unit for Computer Human Interaction (TAUCHI) in the University of Tampere. One of his main tasks is the coordination of the graduate school in User Centered Information Technology (UCIT). Poika received his Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2004 from the University of Tampere. His research interests include input devices, especially pointing devices and text entry.
