In the past decade, mobile services have been developed for consumer and entertainment usage. More recently, mobile services are starting to enter business contexts in different types of companies in, for example, office work, logistics, construction business, and health care. However, the usability of these services depends on their suitability to the workers' needs, tasks and processes in the business contexts. Mobile service usability is affected by a multitude of intertwined factors, including terminal design, service interaction, and compatibility of the technologies used in the companies operating as part of a business network. The context of use is quite complex, and it needs to be analysed and modelled to ensure the success of the services in long-term, goal-oriented usage.

This workshop aims at establishing a model of comprehensive set of factors that affect the usability of mobile services in business contexts. Based on the factors, methods for designing successful mobile services can be developed. Researchers, practitioners and business people are encouraged to attend in order to build a model from a complete set of viewpoints.
Goals
The workshop is intended for both practitioners developing mobile services and academics studying usability of mobile information systems in business contexts. In addition, members of user organisations of mobile services are encouraged to submit their positions on the factors affecting usability. The main goals of the workshop are:
  1. To define a set of key usability factors of successful mobile services.
  2. To establish a model of comprehensive set of factors that affects the usability and acceptance of mobile services in business contexts.
  3. To outline the potential design methods for the user-centered design of successful mobile business services.
Subgoals include: By bringing together experts interested in combining the research traditions of usability and business performance, we hope to create noteworthy results for academic community and an outline of suitable tools for the practical mobile service development. The outcomes of the workshop will be a framework which describes how to define and combine different success factors in the field of mobile HCI and business.
