Publication in Software Engineering Research
General description
Aim: The course consists of two main parts: a seminar on research methods in software engineering, and a paper preparation (& reviewing) project. The purpose of the this course is to familiarize the student with usual research methods in software engineering, and with the paper making and reviewing process, guided by senior researchers and with peer support. The topic of the paper is assumed to be related to the student's PhD thesis, and possibly included in the thesis. The student should discuss the topic together with his/her supervisor. The course is passed (with 6 credit points) by a presentation on a topic related to research methods, participation in the lectures, participation in the different phases of the paper preparation & reviewing, a submission of the research paper, and the presentation of the paper in a workshop. The paper is often expected to be submitted later to an international workshop, conference or journal as well.
Contact person and registration: The responsible person for the course is professor Kai Koskimies (kai.koskimies@tut.fi). It is not necessary to register to the course through local study systems, but it is sufficient to send a note on participation via email to Kai Koskimies.
Place: Room TC103
