Update 29.11.2012: Added a list of completed assignments so far. If you have submitted your assignment, verify that it is included on the list. Also, an extra lab session was added to Wednesday 5.12.
Update 23.11.2012: It wasn’t explicitly mentioned in the instructions, but the correct format for the view+depth image is to have the view in the first half of the image, and the depth in the second half. The display won’t recognize them if the order is reversed. Also, the correct file extension for image files is b3d, not s3d, which was said in the Blender tutorial.
Update 13.11.2012: Adjustments to the bonus assignment have been made, notably to the depth map normalization. Also, a reasonable Matlab implementation could easily take 1-2 seconds per frame for this particular input size. Thus, instead of real time rendering and display of views, an offline version is now recommended (i.e. render all views to memory, then display). Although if you make an efficient enough implementation (< 100ms per frame), real time is of course also OK.
Update 12.11.2012: A tutorial on extracting depth from Blender has been added
Update 30.10.2012: Bonus assignment instructions added
The assistant for the laboratory assignments is Olli Suominen. Deadlines for both the mandatory and bonus assignments are as follows. Extensions can be negotiated with the lecturer, but support will not be available after the deadline given here.
