Instructions:

Logging in

One can log on the nodes with SSH from the TUT network (130.230.0.0/16) using ones Lintula account. Login is allowed only for authorized persons (authorization is granted by Simona Lohan). Users should run their computational tasks with N1 Grid Engine system (check N1 Grid Engine instructions). Grid Engine chooses most suitable node for users task and tries to avoid overloading nodes by queueing tasks when no free recourses are available.

Disk space

The computers have access to the same network drives as other Lintula servers. Notably, the home directories are shared with Lintula, and subject to quota restrictions.

In addition there is a local directory called /worktmp/ . This is meant to hold for example the sizeable input and output files of ones calculations, which will certainly not fit the home directory. This directory is located on mirrored disks, but no backups are being made, so it is not meant for storing anything important. Users wishing to make use of it are expected to create a directory with the name of their username under it to hold their files. There is no quota here, so that running out of it would not interrupt a lengthy calculation. This means users must remember to clean away their files once they no longer need them.
