The submission page has been closed already. The submission should be a draft full-length paper in two-column format, no more than 4 pages, in pdf format. The final paper format templates are here: The papers may be accepted for oral or poster presentation. The decision of the presentation format will be made by the program chair, based on the comments from paper review. Independently of the presentation type, all papers are included in the proceedings. For the submission of invited lecture candidates or tutorial candidates, or if you wish to suggest a panel topic and/or participants, please contact directly Prof. Jari Nurmi. For the submission of industrial abstracts please wait until the scientific paper deadline has passed and use our submission page then (closed down already). The submission should be a one-page summary in two-column format, in pdf. The final accepted industrial abstracts will be published in the proceedings as well, if they conform to the specified format. There will not be another round for the industrial abstracts, they will be published as-is in the proceedings, so be careful! An accepted industrial abstract implies an oral presentation slot in the industry sessions. The industry program chair will decide upon the scheduling. The schedule for industrial abstracts is:
Submitting a paper on either of the tracks is a commitment to send at least one paying participant to the symposium to take care of the presentation. Invited SpeakersThe invited speakers this year will be announced by the fall. Typically there are 8-12 world-class invited speakers from the academy and industry, see previous events. The payment options are credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, EuroCard) and bank transfer. The fees cover everything but accommodation, i.e., admission to the presentations and exhibit, lunches, coffee breaks, banquet, social events, printed proceedings, CD-ROM, transportation between the symposium venue, downtown hotels and social event venues (at scheduled times). For the tutorial, the fees are:
Accompanying persons can participate in lunches, dinner, banquet, coffee breaks and exhibit by paying a fee of 250 euros (conference days Nov. 16-18) and/or 60 euros (tutorial day Nov. 15). Social EventsThe social events are:
TransportThe conference organizers will provide bus transport between the conference venue and downtown hotels (all within 1 to 2 km to Tampere Hall) at scheduled times (at the start/end times of the daily program). The following hotels give special prices and have a quota of rooms by the code "SoC 2004" available between November 15 - 19 . Please do the reservation from the hotel of your choice as soon as possible and at latest by September 30! There will be a bus transport between the conference venue and hotels Tammer, Cumulus Koskikatu and Ilves which are all downtown hotels (about 1 - 1.5 km from the conference venue). Hotel Villa is within a short walk (200 meters) from the conference venue.
