VenueTampere is conveniently located in southern Finland, approximately 200 kilometers from the capital Helsinki. The city is readily reached with direct connections from several European cities, including Stockholm, Copenhagen, London and Frankfurt. Furthermore, the location enjoys the beautiful nature offering its best in the summertime.The workshop is held at the campus of Tampere University of Technology, which is located in Hervanta, nine kilometers (6 mi.) southeast of downtown Tampere. How to get thereIt is easiest to fly to Tampere via Helsinki, Stockholm or Copenhagen. It is also possible to fly to Helsinki and take a bus from there.By air to Tampere: There are direct flights to Tampere from Stockholm and Copenhagen operated by Blue1. Also Ryanair has direct flights to Tampere from Frankfurt (Hahn), London (Stansted), and Riga. Finnair has flights from Helsinki to Tampere. From the airport you can take a taxi or the airport bus. Ryanair has their own bus service. By air to Helsinki: Buses leave Helsinki-Vantaa airport for Tampere about once an hour (timetable). The travel time is 2.5 - 3 hours and it costs 21 EUR one-way. By train: Finnish railways serve Tampere frequently from several directions. From the railway station, take bus 20 or bus 13 (or taxi). The bus stop is on the main street opposite to Stockmann in front of the railway station. In Hervanta, you should get off the bus at shopping center and cross the street (Insinöörinkatu). The university campus is located behind another street (Hervannan valtaväylä). Bus 13 takes you closer, right in front of the university campus. By bus:The intercity buses (including the one from Helsinki airport) arrive at the main bus station that is located a few hundred meters off the main street, Hämeenkatu. Take bus 30 (or taxi) to Hervanta. The bus stop is in front of the bus station along the street Hatanpään valtatie 5D (on the same side of the street as the bus station). In Hervanta, you should get off the bus at shopping center and cross the street (Insinöörinkatu). From downtown Tampere to the university campus at Hervanta:The local buses 13, 20, and 30 go from the center to Hervanta. Line 13 is the most convenient, because the route goes right in front of TUT campus (street Hervannan valtaväylä). The other buses drive the street Insinöörinkatu, which is a little further away (see map). All buses have a stop at the Central square (Keskustori). The bus trip takes about 30 minutes and the ticket costs 2 EUR. The ticket is valid for transfer for one hour and you can buy it from the driver.HotelsBelow is a list of hotels in Tampere. Note, that there is a meeting by the European Rhinologic Society at the same time. This is why the hotels may get a little crowded. Our symposium has booked 20 rooms from Hotel Kauppi between 11.6-13.6 and 10 rooms until 14.6. If you book a room there on 10th of May at the latest, you can use our reservation code "WCSB 2006" and get a reduced rate (55 e single, 67 e double room / night).
