AIMS
AND
SCOPE
Following the
four
successful previous events (WCSB
2006, 2005, 2004, and 2003) hosted
by Tampere
University of Technology,
Finland, the next WCSB event will take place at the University of Leipzig
in June
2008.
WCSB
aims at bringing
together the various communities involved in the different aspects of
computational systems biology research, e.g. from (but not limited
to) experimental biology, machine learning, signal
processing, statistics
and theoretical physics. The scientific
program includes
invited
plenary talks as well as regular sessions with contributed research
talks and posters.

CONFERENCE
PROCEEDINGS

The speciality
of WCSB is that the extended abstracts of all
accepted talks and posters will be published in
a special series of refereed proceedings. Therefore, all prospective
authors
are first asked to submit
a title and abstract (max. 120 words) of their research (see timetable
below). Based on the abstracts, the scientific committee will then
decide which abstracts will be extended as four page papers in the
proceedings and whether the presentation will be oral or a
poster.
The extended
abstracts of no more than four (4) pages,
including results, figures and references, will then be further
refereed for minor corrections. Style files
(LaTeX
and Word) and examples are provided for the convenience of the authors.
Only
papers in
the given format will be considered for publication.
REGISTRATION (updated
May 23, 2008)
Registration for WCSB 2008 is over.
Please register by sending email (remove the nospam part) to wcsb08@cs.tut.fi.nospam.
Note also that the number of registrees is limited to 80 due to space
restrictions - early registration is thus encouraged. Participants who
submit a title and abstract for contribution will be given first
priority.
When registering, please state in the 'Title' field: Registration for WCSB 2008, student/non-student, contribution/no
contribution. Please give the following information in the actual
message: Your name, affiliation, contact information, academic degree,
possible title of research, possible 120-word abstract and any other relevant information.
IMPORTANT DATES
Please submit your 120-word (maximum)
abstract for a poster or
contributed talk by January
15, 2008
the latest. The scientific committee will then meet and assign the
poster presentations as well as the 14 21
available slots for contributed talks (30 20 min. per talk). All authors
will be informed on the decision (reject
/ poster / talk) accordingly by January 31.
Papers for publication in the proceedings (the
four page papers)
should be submitted by March
15, 2008.
This deadline applies to both
the contributed talks and poster
presentations. Subsequently each paper will receive comments from peer
reviewers.
Final, i.e.
camera ready,
papers are expected by April
30, 2008.
CONFERENCE FEE
The conference fee is 50 EUR for students and 100 EUR for other
attendees
(payment details are contained in the confirmation email). The fee
covers the conference dinner, concert, refreshments and printing of the proceedings
