Leipzig

WCSB 2008 will take place in Leipzig. Leipzig is a historic city of approx. 500,000 inhabitants, located 200 kilometres South of Berlin. Leipzig is a town famous for its musical culture (Bach, Schumann, Gewandhaus), literature and visual arts (Goethe, Schiller, Neue Leipziger Schule). In addition, the University of Leipzig celebrates its 600th anniversary in 2009 and Leipzig is also home to several Max-Planck Institutes.

Leipzig can be travelled to conveniently: it is connected to the high-speed train (ICE) network (e.g., Berlin central station is a mere 60 minutes away) and has an international airport with direct connections from most major European cities. Altenburg airport is also about one hour away (direct coach service).

We have reserved a certain contingent of rooms in the following hotels. Please mention the conference "WCSB 2008" and the dates when booking! Note that the rooms are guaranteed only until April 2008 - in order to obtain the reduced rates, please book by April 30, 2008.

Note also that Seaside Hotel and Mark Hotel Garni are booked out in the weekend (due to the "Bachfest", a large festival in Leipzig). If you intend to stay in Leipzig until Saturday or Sunday, Hotel Berlin is the best choice.
