Day 1 (24 March 2004)

20:00-
The reception will be hosted by the city of Tampere and it will take place in the Museum Centre Vapriikki. Vapriikki, is housed in what used to be the engineering works of Tampella Ltd. In addition to exhibition spaces, the Museum Centre provides facilities for collections, preservation, photo archives, a reference library, an auditorium, education of school children as well as space for research and offices.

The reception will start by visiting the Fog Screen exhibition. Fog Screen is the world's first walk-thru projection screen. It has been honoured with the best innovation in Finland InnoFinland prize by the president of Finland. The prize-winning process enables images and video films to be projected onto the air. The Fog Screen also won the South Ostrobothnia innovation prize. The Fog Screen, developed in the technical university of Tampere, Finland, is based on new technology that makes it possible, to create a flat and thin layer of fog, enabling high-quality projections, and walk-thru at the same time. The fog screen feels dry and cool to the touch and does not accumulate smoke in the room so it can be used for extended periods of time.

Vapriikki is located close to downtown Tampere, about two kilometers from Tampere Hall (but a bit closer to your hotel). There will be no trasportation from Tampere Hall to Vapriikki. Day 2 (25 March 2004)

18:00-
The conference dinner will be held on the countryside at farm Haapaniemi. Haapaniemi is about 40 minutes drive from Tampere. Traditional Finnish food will be served (choices for both vegetarians and meat lovers will be available). The farm is located beside a small lake (frozen at the time of the conference). We hope that some snow will still be left on the ground in the end of March for the conference attendees to get a glimpse of Finnish countryside in the winter. Busses will leave from Tampere Hall at 18:00. Bus transportation will take us back to Tampere after the dinner. The busses will stop downtown Tampere and visit the conference hotels after that.
