The Group
The research group of DSP and Communications System-on-Chip (a.k.a. Team Nurmi)
at TUT /
Department of Computer Systems is looking for new talents in the stage
of making their MSc thesis or starting PhD studies in the field.
We are working on System-on-Chip design related issues under the following three sub-categories:
- Processor and co-processor architectures and design
- On-chip communication, Network-on-Chip, multi-processor SoC platforms
- Communications and positioning receiver implementations, Software-Defined Radio
The team is a multi-national research team with members, customers and cooperation
partners from all over the world (with emphasis in Europe and North America).
The funding is coming from various sources including the Academy of Finland,
TEKES (Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation) together with Finnish companies,
EU research programmes, ARTEMIS,
various graduate schools, the department (researcher positions),
and direct development contracts with companies. The group is also organizing
the International Symposium on System-on-Chip annually in Tampere.

Currently we have open positions with the following job descriptions.
Most of the jobs can start in January 2009.
The positions will be filled only if qualified candidates exist!
Common requirements to be eligible include
- Good grades in the field of the job applied for
- Good skills in oral and written communication in English
- Final year MSc student or (to-be) PhD student
Additional plus to possess some of the following
- Previous experience on working within or in cooperation with electronics industry (preferably in Western Europe or North America)
- Knowledge of other languages important to us, such as Finnish, Italian, German or Dutch
