Teaching in English in the Institute of Software Systems

Software systems is suitable for all students interested in implementation of software systems and the management of software projects. An advanced study module is currently offered, see the webpage of the Internationl Master's Degree Programme in Information Technology for information on the structure of M.Sc. studies. The aim is to provide the students good basic understanding of software systems, the ability to design and implement them and the ability to manage and improve software development processes. The advanced module studies also provide a good basis for graduate studies in the future.

A variety of courses is offered in English at the Institute. The number of students in each course is limited due to physical size constraints (teaching takes place in smaller lecture rooms). The courses are primarily intended for foreign students, but Finnish students are also encouraged to participate if there is enough room on the course. The current arrangement is to give courses in three different ways:

  • some courses are given completely in English,
  • in some courses there is an English exercise group, while
  • for some courses it is possible to do the course project in English and take the exam in English.
