Visual Cortex

The endpoint in the visual pathway is the Visual Cortex which is the visual areas of the Cerebral Cortex. It consists of six layers distinguished by the number of neurons. It is wrong though to say that the visual cortex is the endpoint of the pathway, because many interconnected cortical areas are involved in processing the visual information. In other words, various aspects of visual information are handled by different specialized but interconnected areas of the overall visual system.
