Who am I

Work

I am a researcher and Ph.D. student (Human-Centered Design) at the Unit of Human-Centered Technology (IHTE) at Tampere University of Technology (TUT) in (UCIT) Doctoral Program in Human-Centered Information Technology in Finland. I have been working at IHTE since June 2009.

Before joining IHTE, I had gained several years of industrial experience in the mobile phone localization, internationalization, testing and quality. I hold M.A. from the University of Tampere (Russian, French, International Politics and Journalism).

I am interested in user experience and cross-cultural design, specifically remote UX evaluation methods. My research focuses on how culture affects UX and how cultural factors should be taken into consideration when evaluating and analyzing the UX of a product or a service.

The work at IHTE-research projects is based on case studies done in close co-operation with collaborating companies such as Fiskars, Nokia, Paf and Suunto. Currently I am working at Delux-project (1.4.2011-31.5.2013) investigating long-term UX in order to understand how to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty in prolonged product use.

Previously I worked at Suxes-project (1.6.2009- 31.3.2011), which aimed at developing practices for global remote online UX evaluation. I am also organizing and teaching a course "Cross-Cultural Design" at TUT.

Personal

I have three wonderful children and we like to do outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking and cycling together. I love music, traveling and photography. I believe that taking time to do nothing is also very important as it often brings everything in perspective.
